Confluence of Big Sandy Lake and the Mississippi River

The northeast corner of Big Sandy Lake flows into the Mississippi River about 10 miles northwest of the proposed Talon sulfide mine in Tamarack, Minnesota. If the mine contaminated water it could flow into Big Sandy two different ways – through the Tamarack River, north of Tamarack, and through a series of lakes and rivers west and north of the proposed mine.
